The Sparrow and the Crow

Crow and Sparrow

In a lush forest, a lonely sparrow named Kane lived a humble life. She had lost her flock and family, and her days were filled with solitude. One day, while searching for food, she met a sleek crow named Kala. Kala, too, had lost his kin and was wandering alone.

As they crossed paths, they began to talk and share their stories. Despite their differences, they found comfort in each other’s company and decided to meet daily to share meals and tales.

Kane, being a hardworking sparrow, would prepare a delicious khichri (a traditional rice and lentil dish) every day. She would invite Kala to join her and they would sit together, savoring the flavors and each other’s company. However, Kala had a selfish streak. One day, while Kane was out on an errand, Kala gobbled up the entire meal leaving nothing for Kane. When she returned, she was heartbroken and tears welled up in her eyes.

As the days passed, Kane’s hurt turned to anger. She confronted Kala who was caught off guard. In a fit of rage, Kane began to peck at Kala, who cried out in pain:

Kaw caw, my hips do ache Kane, still fuming, retorted: Why devour what others make?

Kala, realizing his mistake, apologized and promised to change his ways. Kane, seeing the sincerity in his eyes, forgave him, and they continued their daily meetings with a newfound appreciation for trust and loyalty.

From then on, their bond grew stronger, and they explored the forest together, sharing stories and meals, as true friends should.
